dressing the debutantes
BIOGRAPHY
dressing the debutantes have recorded more albums then they can count over the last 6 years. typically the band consists of chris hutchison-jones (in boston) and jesse busen (in D.C). we get together about once a year to record whatever songs we have written. Previous albums have included:
music from the crooked tree
gulf coast ballads (songs inspired by hurricane katrina)
i think the dead can dance
other voices, smaller bones
while waiting for jesse to finish mixing our latest album "all ye gonna take up snakes" chris decided to do a solo album for RPM 2009. The result was a 10 song opus called "every tongue got to confess". the album was recorded onto a handheld mp3 recorder. no mixing, no mastering. most of the songs were done in one take. think of them as 21st century field recordings...minus the field.
BAND MEMBERS
for this project, dressing the debutantes was chris hutchison-jones solo on guitar, banjo, ukelele, and toy accordian.

dear listener,
if i ask you questions, will i get an answer? can i be redeemed? perhaps not. maybe i don't deserve one? is my name job? he was mean they said, and the lonely sea carried him away. a true vine is just what the doctor ordered and good man is sure hard to find.
if i could replace my head with your hands, and death valley is halfway home, then maybe texas won't be in vain. i doubt it though. but given what the crow brings you never can tell.
retractable claws and a dead cow tongue,
a bridge to drive home and an iron lung.
bring a flat tire and a humming bird,
so i can tell the world you kept your word.
sink or swim my son, sink or swim. lay me on your alter or clean up my mess...cause the good lord knows that every tongue got to confess
music from the crooked tree: volume 7(2010)
dressing the debutantes 7th album (we think, kinda lost count) and the 3rd time they have completed the rpm challenge. the most eclectic dtd album to date. 3 songwriters, 4 musicians, several hundred miles of distance, and 28 days.
